  8. 5 Little Things You Should Be Thankful For

    Hello, Pandas!

From now on, I’m gonna post “5 little Things I’m Thankful For” (if I’m not lazy :P). I think - as what Jamiroquai said in Space Cowboy, “Everything is good!”. Yes, everything is good if we learn to be thankful for every little nice things in our life. So have you been grateful for whatever happened to you this week?

Here’s the reasons why I’m grateful for this week:

    5. Lomo Camera

Is there anyone on earth who doesn’t fell in love with those pretty pictures and effects? I don’t think so.

    4. Ice Cream

Long ago, before they found coca or marijuana, they ate ice cream.

    3. Dog

I love ‘em more than I love human. Currently I’m living with one, called (S)Melly. Its my neighbor’s dog, and its supercute! Its a Yorkie. She bites, by the way.

    2. Jamiroquai

I’ve listened to Jamiroquai again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again. Wherever and whenever. I need Jay Kay to maintain my sanity.

If you have no idea what are Jamiroquai’s best single (I can’t believe such human exist. Poor you), you should try to download “Seven Days in Sunny June”, “Space Cowboy”, “Virtual Insanity” and “White Knuckle Rides”. Download. NOW.

    1. Sleep

Because I’m having a chronic insomnia, sometimes I’m not sleeping at all for a day and feels really really tired. So every night with a decent sleep is a happy day for me. Everyone who can snore off easily in class or in other place should be thankful. You have no idea how much I envy you. And I bet you have no idea how torturing it is to roll over your bed for hours, thinking about presentation tomorrow at 7 A.M and about how dumb you’re gonna be if this keep on happening. At the end, you’re sure that you’re gonna die young.

  12. Diplomacy in Practice

    Hi everyone!

Haven’t write anything for awhile. I’ve been lazy (as always). Hee hee.

    How are you guys?

    Me doin’ superfine! :D

So about 2 days ago, I’ve participated in an event which every IR student at Parahyangan Catholic University have to endure, its called Diplomacy in Practice. Its an internal MUN (Model United Nations), where we act as a delegates of a particular country (it’s randomized, and I got Turkey. Which kinda cool, because I love Turkey) in UNGA (UN General Assembly), discussing about particular topics. The topic for this year is.. The UN Security Council Reform. Which I don’t really care. Because it’s too.. High-politics. But I guess, its better compared to last year (about environment. euh).

Although I’m not really enjoying it at first (because you only have 1-2 minutes to talk, with formal manner. Oh, and you can only talk when the president choose your team. And we have to submit a paper. And because I used to debate, so I prefer debate. Oh, and we have to be there at 6.30, and, as usual, I can’t sleep at all the night before, so I practically a zombie. So yeah, its <sarcasm> SUPER FUN </sarcasm>), but at the end of the day, ‘twas super exciting!

Its different from debate, because we have to make alliances (Turkey is a part of Uniting for Concensus or UFC), negotiating and having secret meetings.. So yeah, it was as cool as it sounds.

I’m havin’ fun and I’m gonna miss this moment (and these guys) for sure :)

  14. The 6th PEDC

Mixed feelings is what I felt in the closing ceremony of 6th PEDC. Happy and sad, all together as one. Happy, because - well, I always happy in every debate tournament, also because 6th PEDC is a big success :D

And sad, because… Well this can be my last debating tourney. How can I possibly leave such a big part of me? But life must go on, and we have to grow up. As what Naufal said, don’t be sad because it’s ended. Be happy because it’s happened :)

Anyway, here’s the brief report of what happened in 6th PEDC:

    The Motion

One of the most happiest thing to do as Chief Adjudicator is: creating motions (and imagine how shock participants gonna be, nyeheheheheheh), also finding a funny video as a hint for participants.

So this is the list of 6th PEDC:

    Round Zero: Fiction*

Harry Potter: For the sake of self-defense, THW allow the usage of “unforgivable curse” (Grand Final motion in JFF)

Superheroes: THBT Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto) is more awesome than Roronoa Zorro (One Piece)

Disney: THW stop teaching/indoctrinate minors with “happily ever after”

Video: Pandji Manusia Milenium, one of the sinetron Indonesia “jadul”, lol!

    Round #1: Law Enforcement

THBT Racial Profiling in US Airports Brings More Harm than Good

    THW Abolish Three-Strikes Out Policy

THBT Jury-duty should be Voluntary in States Applying Common Law System

Video: Toy Story 3, the battle between Zurg and Buzz Lightyear above the lift, when Zurg said “I am your father”

    Round #2: Media

THBT UN should have its Own Broadcasting Channel

THBT states could oblige media outlets to adopt peace Journalism in a crisis situation

THBT Twitter have the Right to Censor the Content of Whatever is Posted in It

Video: Super-news, Twitter. For twitter addicts, I reccommend you to YouTube-ing this hilarious video.

    Round #3: Education*

THW no longer oblige students to attend flag ceremony

THBT state subsidy for higher education should priorities students whose parents did not have higher education

THW tie teachers’ salary with the performance of their students

    Video: Borat goes to Cambridge.

    Round #4: International Development

THBT Developed Countries Should Limit Brain Drain in Developing Countries by Regulating Skilled Worker Migrations

THBT Government in Latin America should forcefully remove slums

THW stop AT&T and T-mobile merger

Video: Sad video I found in YouTube, comparison between us and African people, entitled “Still Complaining?”

    Round #5: Woman Empowerment*

THW implement a mandatory quota for women in the high ranking positions of large corporations

THBT government in developed countries should give more exclusive scholarship for women in developing countries

THBT feminist movement should acknowledge prostitution as a legitimate career for woman

Video: Off The Pill - Feminist by Ryan Higa (nigahiga). And the participants went literally nuts watching this video. I can say this was the funniest video played in 6th PEDC!

    Octo-final: Religion*

THBT Indonesia Should Not Have Ministry of Religious Affairs

THW ban religious Institutions to refuse membership on the basis of sexual orientation (LGBT)

THW legally require priests to report all serious crimes that they hear in confessions.

Video: Albert Einstein talking about God when he was a student. Very inspiring video.

    Quarter-final: Environment*

THW give death penalty to near-extinct animals poachers/smugglers

THBT after Fukushima, Japan should not continue its nuclear program

THBT environmental talks should be conducted in places that were impacted the most by climate change instead of in exotic resorts

Video: Scary Global Warming propaganda played in the Copenhagen Environmental Talks.

    Semi-final: Art and Culture

THW financially incentivize both inter-faith and inter-ethnic marriages in Ambon

THW Oppose politicization of comic books in the form of Captain Israel

THW return Benin Bronze to its original place

Video: “I’m a Chingsta” by Ryan Higa. Mmmm, I don’t think participants can find the connection between this video and the motions. Oh well.

    3rd Place: Health*

THW take cult members into psychiatric care

THBT pharmaceutical companies should only be owned by government

THW allow the sale of human organs

Video: Cartoon Obama, talking about healthcare system with Mario Bros and the villain, saying something about health-bar (or what the geeky video gamers, like me, known as HP bar).

    Grand-Final: International Relations

THW cancel the article 16 of Rome Statute

THBT the recent political turmoil in Egypt will only install new authocratic regime

THW force Algeria to extradite Gaddafi and his family to be prosecuted

    Video: no video!!

    The Breaking Ceremony

So the committees and I come with the idea of “clubbing” breaking ceremony, for about 1 hour before the breaking ceremony because my iTunes playlist has bunch of Techno-songs.

The idea was, finding your Liason Officers (in the dark, while everybody is dancing like crazy) and look at their glow-in-the-dark-bracelet (we bought these bracelet, about 5 minutes before breaking ceremony. Phew!), and if they wear blue and yellow bracelet, it means your team is breaking. Meanwhile red and green means your team is not breaking.

There was sort of “garing”-ness shortly after I announced they have to dance around, but nobody is dancing! I played a very loud techno song (my bad, it’s unfamiliar song, Caspa - Love Never Dies), and they’re not moving, sitting tight on their place.

I was panicked, and yelled the Liason Officers who were still busy wearing their glow-in-the-dark-bracelet. After the LOs marched into Debaters Hall, the real party was started. The LOs jumps and dance like crazy, and I clicked Party Rock Anthem (LMFAO) and Like A G6, and the hall, once again went nuts.

I’m glad it’s not an epic fail. And I’m glad they’re PARTYING! I should give credit to my brother, who sometimes work as a DJ (and who was once tried to teach me as one) for the techno songs in my iTunes playlist.

I’m also SUPER GLAD, that my chicks: Olip, Evan and Christine - was one of the breaking team!!

    The Finals

Hmm finals rounds were going pretty much okay, although many schools have a cannibalistic debate between their own institutions. We can’t help it, it was such a pity their breaking rank made them meet their own istitutions. But take it to the positive side, whoever win that round, the institution will automatically proceed to the next round, right? ;)

We’re really sorry for that matter, but that is the rules of almost every debate competitions :(

    Thank You

For all participants, especially for those who have come from far-away places: Malang, Cirebon, Jekarda, Surabaya, etc.

For all the hard-working committees, Logistics, LOs, panicky Tabulation team, Consumption, Registration, etc. Thank you for your support (and thanks for those who willing to dance like crazy in breaking ceremony :p). You guys are the best!!

For the invited adjudicators… Thank you for adjudicating every rounds and willing to give verbals also constructives to the debaters.

For BPK I Penabur, especially Ibu Boni as Principal, thank you so much for the support.

And for Naufal… for so many things you’ve done in this competition.

I think I blabbed for quite some length in my tumblr. I’m really glad become the part of BPK I Penabur and become the coach of my awesome chicks!

Although we will eventually say goodbye, memories will last forever :)

  16. Listen to the Universe

    • Lily: Okay, I'm just going to ask this. Do you really want to come back for this?
    • Ted: What's that supposed to mean?
    • Lily: Architecture is killing you, Ted. And it's killing us to watch it killing you. You're like that goat with the washcloth. You want it so bad, and every time the world tries to take it away from you, you keep grabbing it. But you know what? It's just a washcloth, why do you even want it?
    • Ted: Because I have to be an architect. That's... That's the plan.
    • Lily: Screw the plan. I planned on being a famous artist. Marshall planned on being an environmental lawyer. Barney planned on being a violinist.
    • Barney: Lily!
    • Lily: You can't design your life like a building. It doesn't work that way. You just have to live it, and it will design itself.
    • Ted: So what, I should just do nothing?
    • Lily: Listen to what the world is telling you to do and take the leap.
    • Future Ted: That was the year I got left at the altar. It was the year I got knocked out by a crazy bartender. The year I got fired. And damn it if it wasn't a best year of my life. Because, if any one of those things hadn't happened, I never would have ended up and turned out to be the best job I ever had. But more importantly, I wouldn't have met your mother.

  18. My Favorite Food

Basically, I’m an omnivore dinosaur. I practically ate everything, including raw flesh, metal, plastic.. You name it. But between all those foods, I do have favorites.

So here goes the list of my favorite food:

    #10. Bakso

Ahh, this is one of the reason why I love Indonesia so much. I don’t think they have “abang tukang bakso” out there. I love this foodd, especially bakso urat! Nyum!

    #9. Deep fried fish

A very simple dish. A fresh fish - any kind of fish, coated with salt and kunyit and peppers. Served with warm rice + sambel terasi. YUMMY!

    #8. Cheese cake

Nobody hate cakes. It’s like saying you hate dogs. Or hate babies. It’s an universal law: you gotta love cake! Especially cheese cake, with blueberry jam or crumbles on top!

    #7. BBQ Ribs

Grilled BBQ Ribs (usually pork) are simply irresistable. You can’t say no to it, moreover if its grilled right in front of your nose.. Oooh. Gimme gimme gimme!

    #6. BBQ Seafoods

The same also goes to seafood. Prawn. Oyster. Squid. Fish. Jimbaran beach. Heaven on earth.

#5. Fat Noodles (Udon, “Mie Laiker”)

Don’t give me ramen or mie kriting coz I like it biggg!

    #4. Suckling Pig

Ooooh, I must be so lucky I’m a Balinese. I can eat this baby whenever I want. I can’t explain how delicious this is. The crispy skin… The tender meat… It’s simply magic in your mouth.

    #3. Ice Cream

Especially hazelnut and blueberry flavor! I also love cheese cake flavor! Its my anti-sad medicine. Whenever I’m feeling down, I’m gonna treat myself with an ice-cream and *triiing* I’m gonna be happy in no time! My favorite ice-cream parlor: COLD STONE.

    #2. Chuka Wakame (Seaweed Salad)

I just discovered this food when I ate at Sushi Tei with my family. It’s so yummy, I don’t mind eating only this in my whole life. Well, its lebay. But the point is, I LOVE this food very duper much!

And the food I like the most izzz *drumroll*

    #1. Sushi

Have you ever experienced a “mouthgasm”? That’s what I feel every time I ate sushi. I love both raw and fushion sushi. And I never picky with the content, california roll, dragon roll, crispy salmon skin, just bring it on! Oh, I have an exception on unagi roll, tho. Have you ever see an eel? Poor little eel. I will never eat them.

Grr. Writing about foods makes me super hungree! Gonna find something to eat now. Roar!
